About

In February 2024, the Middle East Classical Music Academy will be returning to the UAE to celebrate its third edition. Following two universally-acclaimed entries in 2021 and 2022, this latest iteration in the Academy’s short yet rich history looks to build on these foundations to create a unique experience for talented young musicians across the breadth of the MENA region and beyond.

Taking place from the 1st to the 16th of February, MECMA 2024 will be focused on youth orchestras from all over the world, providing these ensembles with an unrivalled opportunity to study, practice, and grow together both on an individual level and as a group.

Throughout its two-week duration, the Academy shall feature a series of masterclasses in 5 different categories – namely violin, cello, saxophone, clarinet, and conducting – each of which will be led by a host of internationally-acclaimed pedagogues and professors, including Aiman Mussakhajayeva (Kazakhstan), Davide Alogna (Italy), Alexander Chaushian (UK/Armenia), Antonio Tinelli (Italy), and Alan Chircop (Malta).

In addition to the courses themselves, participants shall also be able to benefit from a special competition series that will be organised under the auspices of MECMA 2024, featuring a number of contests in a variety of disciplines, while the Academy will also be presenting no fewer than six symphonic concerts, headlined by some of the biggest artists of our time.

Conductor Mikhail Kirchhoff and the Eurasian Symphony Orchestra will be joined by violinists Sergei Dogadin, Nikita Boriso-Glebsky and Nurie Chung; pianists Philipp Kopachevsky and Sergey Davydchenko; cellist Youngeun Lee, and violist Andrey Usov for this endeavour, with each concert also set to feature performances by the academy attendees themselves as well.

Moreover, all participants will also be eligible for a special all-inclusive package that has been put together for students. This includes within it free shuttle service from the airport to the hotel, a 14-day stay in a luxurious 4-Star hotel on Bed & Breakfast basis, and, most crucially, free access to every one of the classical music concerts that will be taking place every evening as part of the world-renowned InClassica International Music Festival.
