It is the only creative group in the country awarded the State Prize "Nihol" by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Throughout its almost 80-year history, the ensemble has been led by outstanding musicians such as I.I. Shteyn; V.A. Belenkiy, Honored Mentor of Youth of the Republic of Uzbekistan; Professor V.B. Neymer, Honored Artist of Uzbekistan; and B.K. Rasulov. Currently, the artistic director and chief conductor is the remarkable musician Ulugbek Mahmudov.
