The Youth Symphonic Orchestra of the V.A. Uspensky Republican Specialised Music School (Tashkent, Uzbekistan)

The Youth Symphonic Orchestra of the V.A. Uspensky Republican Specialised Music School is one of the most interesting youth musical ensembles in Uzbekistan. It is the only creative group in the country awarded the State Prize "Nihol" by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The award was granted to the orchestra in 2007 in recognition of the talent of the young performers, their creative activity, and their significant role in the musical and social life of the country.

The Symphonic Orchestra at the Uspensky School was established in the late 1940s and has become an excellent educational foundation for training young musicians – both orchestral performers and conductors. Throughout its almost 80-year history, the ensemble has been led by outstanding musicians such as I.I. Shteyn; V.A. Belenkiy, Honored Mentor of Youth of the Republic of Uzbekistan; Professor V.B. Neymer, Honored Artist of Uzbekistan; and B.K. Rasulov. Currently, the artistic director and chief conductor is the remarkable musician Ulugbek Mahmudov.

Concerts by the Youth Symphonic Orchestra consistently attract public interest and fill the halls, as the ensemble's performances feature vibrant original programmes, high professionalism, and the enthusiasm of young musicians. The orchestra has collaborated with renowned musicians such as Behzod Abduraimov, and Nodir Hashimov, and has received masterclasses from People's Artist of Russia Yuri Bashmet. Within its creative "portfolio," the orchestra can count performances on the best stages in Tashkent and other cities in Uzbekistan, as well as in cities in Israel, Kazakhstan, and Russia.

The Youth Symphonic Orchestra is a laureate of several international competitions and a participant in prestigious international forums such as the International Festival "Sharq Taronalari" (Samarkand, 2009), the International Festival of the Vladimir Spivakov Charity Foundation "Moscow Welcomes Friends" (Moscow, 2007, 2008), and the Festival of Youth Symphonic Orchestras of the World (Moscow, 2023), and others.

The Uspensky Youth Symphonic Orchestra always remains youthful. Many performers that have completed their education at the school continue their studies in creative universities in Uzbekistan and other countries, or are already working in orchestras in our country and abroad. New students take their place. However, the connection between generations is maintained, and traditions from previous decades are upheld. The Youth Symphonic Orchestra lives and develops as an integral part of the unified history of the legendary Uspensky School.
