The competition will take place from April 12 to April 18, 2026, with events hosted at the Liebfrauen Concert Hall and the Harz District Music School. Dedicated exclusively to the music of Frédéric Chopin, the competition is conceived as an independent artistic platform aimed at supporting young pianists and deepening the appreciation of Chopin’s legacy.
The event will open on April 12 at 4:00 PM with a special opening concert performed by Albert Mamriev himself, underlining his personal artistic involvement in the project. The competition rounds will be held from April 13 to April 16, followed by the Final Concert and Award Ceremony on April 18.
Albert Mamriev is widely recognized not only for his concert career, but also for his contribution to music education and talent development. He is the founder of the Neue Sterne International Piano Competition and has long been committed to nurturing the next generation of pianists through performance, teaching, and artistic leadership.
It is important to note that this newly established competition in Wernigerode is entirely separate from the renowned International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, which concluded its 19th edition in October 2025.
With the launch of the International Frédéric Chopin Competition, Albert Mamriev continues to play a significant role in shaping the international classical music scene, creating new opportunities for young artists and reinforcing the enduring relevance of Chopin’s music for future generations.
