Pablo Galdo Appointed Artistic Director of the “Ciudad de Vigo” International Piano Competition

Renowned Spanish pianist Pablo Galdo, a professor at the Middle East Classical Music Academy, has been appointed Artistic Director of the Ciudad de Vigo International Piano Competition. The appointment marks an important new chapter for the competition, which continues to position itself as one of the most distinctive piano events on the international circuit.

Held in Vigo, Spain, the competition was created with the aim of challenging the traditional formats often associated with classical music contests. Unlike many other competitions, the Ciudad de Vigo International Piano Competition is built around a free-choice recital format, allowing participants to demonstrate their artistic identity and individuality across four rounds.

One of the most notable features of the competition is its absence of an age limit, reflecting the belief that artistic maturity and musical excellence cannot be defined by age. Instead, the focus is placed entirely on the quality, depth, and authenticity of musical expression.

The jury panel is composed of internationally respected musicians who share a profound dedication to artistic integrity and musical excellence. Their approach emphasizes openness, passion, and a deep respect for the individuality of each performer.

In his message as Artistic Director, Pablo Galdo emphasized the spirit behind the competition, encouraging pianists from around the world to take part and share their artistry. As a performer, educator, jury member, and now artistic leader of the event, he invites participants to present their talents in an environment built on creativity, respect, and a genuine love for music.
