Pianist Sergey Davydchenko Shines at Fourth MECMA Concert
The series of symphonic concerts at the 2024 Middle East Classical Music Academy continued on Saturday 10th February, with a fourth entry which on this occasion took place in the splendour of the renowned Dubai Opera.
Headlined by pianist Sergey Davydchenko, the afternoon concert also featured the talents of the Eurasian Symphony Orchestra and conductor Mikhail Kirchhoff, with the artists presenting a wide and varied program that touched music upon the entire spectrum of classical, all the way up to the contemporary period with an offering from the pen of the award-winning composer Alexey Shor.
“It was a wonderful experience,” Davydchenko said, “the concert really went well I think, and the audience seemed to enjoy it.” The Shor piece is a very interesting one, very melodic and a lot of fun to play. I have played some other works by Shor so I know his approach quite well, and it’s always great to perform his pieces.”
Audiences in the packed hall appeared to share these emotions, with one commenting that “this was such a great experience. Dubai Opera is extremely beautiful, it was my first time here, and I'm really looking forward to coming again and listening to more classical concerts. All the music was really lovely!”
Following this entry, the MECMA concert series will be continuing on the 14th of the month with a concert at Zabeel Theater featuring cellist Youngeun Lee, before coming to a close on February 15th with pianist Nurie Chung. Both concerts, meanwhile, shall also include the Eurasian Symphony Orchestra, with the first entry being conducted by Mikhail Kirchhoff, and the second by Valid Ağayev.
