Orchestra-in-Residence — Middle East Classical Music Academy-2025

The Kazakh State Symphony Orchestra is the leading musical group of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The orchestra consists of highly professional musicians, laureates of international competitions, possessing brilliant virtuoso technique, a rich sound palette, a sense of ensemble, developing the best world traditions of chamber music. The orchestra, consisting of 90 talented musicians, performs works from different eras and styles, and masters the art of interpreting baroque, classical and modern music. National music, orchestral arrangements of folk songs and kuis, as well as performances of works by modern Kazakh composers occupy a significant place in the group's work. Among them: "Adagio for Stunners" (S. Barber), "Serenade" (P. Tchaikovsky), "Hungarian Dances" (I. Brahms), "West Side Story" (L. Bernstein), "Nocturne" (A. Dvorak), "Requiem" (A. Dvorak), "String Serenade" (E. Elgar), "Carmen" (G. Bizet), etc.

The symphony orchestra worthily represents the musical art and performing traditions of Kazakhstan abroad and develops international cultural ties. The creative team collaborates with world-famous performers from Switzerland (M. Pletnev), Austria (G. Winischhofer, D. Schwartzberg), Israel (M. Kugel, A. Levitan), Germany (K. Blacher), the USA (A. Slobodjanik), Norway (I. Shuldman), Sweden (A. Stenberg), etc.

The State Orchestra carries out special concert programs with the invitation of leading conductors. The recognition of the mastery of the Kazakh orchestra is evidenced by performances under the direction of famous foreign conductors: I. Suk (Czech Republic), V. Chapek (Austria), E. Schmieder (USA), O. Schmidt-Gertenbach, J. von Bertoli (Germany), V. Fedoseyev, K. Orbelian (USA/Armenia), Rin Yong Yang (South Korea), D. Bartolossi (Brazil), G. Emilson (Iceland), and others. With the support of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the orchestra performs with great success in the best concert halls of Europe (Germany, Austria, Italy, England, France), Asia (Korea, Turkey, Japan), America (USA). The team takes part in many international classical music festivals. Over the years of active creative life, the symphony orchestra has managed to win the love of the public and the recognition of professionals in its country and abroad. The orchestra was created in 1991 on the initiative of the world-famous violinist, People's Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Hero of Labor of Kazakhstan, professor, rector of the Kazakh National University of Arts, artistic director of the orchestra Aiman Musakhadzhayeva. The chief conductor of the orchestra is Honored Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan, professor of the KazNUA Bakhytzhan Musakhodzhayeva.
